Genesis Consulting Group Welcomes New Employee
Dennis A. Leverette, Sr., PE, has joined the staff of Genesis Consulting Group as a senior project manager responsible for supporting the firm’s major projects in site development, municipal services, and water resources. Mr. Leverette is an established, professional engineer with a 30+ year career of progressively responsible, successful, and profitable business management, project management, and design experience. He has an equally diverse project design background that includes municipal and county water and wastewater projects; single and multi-family real estate development; industrial/commercial real estate development; and solid waste management/landfill designs. He has assisted counties and the state in industrial recruitment as an adjunct to the development of individual industrial sites and industrial parks, and has provided all associated site, grading, roadway, drainage, and utility infrastructure design.
Mr. Leverette is a registered professional engineer in South Carolina and holds a BS in civil engineering from The Citadel. Prior to joining Genesis Consulting Group, Mr. Leverette held senior-level positions with multiple engineering firms in the Columbia, SC, area. He is also a former director of public works for Lexington County and former utilities and service coordinator for Richland County.

Two of Genesis Consulting Group’s principals conduct Storm Water seminar
Genesis Consulting Group principals David K. Brandes, PE, and A. Carroll Barker, Sr., are among the distinguished faculty for a one-day Continuing Education seminar on Current Issues in Storm Water Regulation sponsored by Lorman Education Services (a division of Lorman Business Center, Inc.) – an Authorized Provider by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET). The May 6, 2008, seminar in Columbia, SC, covers topics such as the environmental effects of storm water discharge, applicable statutes and administrative code sections, permitting conditions and reporting requirements, and cutting-edge sustainable design techniques, among others. Genesis Consulting Group Welcomes New Employee
Genesis Consulting Group is extremely pleased to announce the addition of Mr. Jamie C. Gilbert to our staff as assistant director of planning and economic development. Mr. Gilbert brings to the firm more than 15 years of broad-based experience in economic development at the local and regional level and has worked in both urban and rural communities in the areas of business development and attraction, strategic planning, market analyses, and market research. Mr. Gilbert most recently served as the director of business development for the Greenwood Partnership Alliance where he was responsible for implementing strategies to recruit industries and investment within Greenwood County, SC.
Prior to then, he served as the executive director for the Abbeville County Development Board and as a project manager for the Greenwood County Economic Alliance, in addition to several development positions in Maryland. Mr. Gilbert holds a master’s degree in city and regional planning from Clemson University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He is also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute and is a South Carolina Certified Economic Developer (SCCED).

Genesis Consulting Group's President
Honored at ASCE Seminar
James R. Morris, Jr., president of Genesis Consulting
Group, was presented with the 2007 Distinguished Service to People
Award at the annual fall seminar of the American Society of Civil
Engineers (ASCE) - South Carolina Section. This award recognized
Dr. Morris for his outstanding service to the people of South
Carolina through his professional, civic, and humanitarian activities.
The fall seminar was held on September 14, 2007,
at the Columbia Conference Center and included more than 200 participants.
In addition to the awards ceremony, the all-day session provided
the participants with the opportunity to network with other professionals
in the civil engineering industry and to gain technical knowlegde
through participation in the 17 separate professional presentations.

Genesis Consulting Group Selected
to Prepare a
10-County "Textile Recovery Plan"
Genesis Consulting Group
was awarded a contract by the Economic Development Partnership
(EDP) based in Aiken, SC, to develop a comprehensive textile industry
recovery plan for the 10-county Savannah River Basin area of South
Carolina. This project represents one of the largest economic
development and industry studies undertaken in South Carolina
to help improve the economic health of local communities.
The majority of the Savannah
River Basin study area is located within the 3rd Congressional
District of South Carolina represented by J. Gresham Barrett.
The specific counties include Aiken, Abbeville, Anderson, Edgefield,
Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick, Oconee, Pickens, and Saluda County.

Directors (Member-at-Large) of the South Carolina Association
of Stormwater Managers.
